In Kimonos and wooden sandals,

We walked through streets of Tokyo

We hear music and we see people in costumes

on a stage dancing

We pass by cafes and local shops and tourists

walking under the scorching heat of the sun

We walked through parks and piles of sake barrels and wine

We entered the shrine. I saw some people in Kimonos and some in modern clothing.

There were 2 enormous camphor trees and in the middle was the shrine.

There were prayers written in Japanese and other languages

written by tourists hanging under the tree.

We saw a wedding party , the bride in white kimono and head dress

Her wedding party in variety of western and kimono garments

As I took in the sounds and sights of my surroundings

I heard the sounds of our own footsteps

In our wooden sandals

We walked on
