When in doubt,I read

The words of the Lady feeds me

like the warm fresh bread

that satiates like no other

In the morning,

before the sun rises, I read

The words of the Lady comforts me

Her words written in a different time and place

but the message is the same

In my youth, nobody asked me to read

but I was drawn to the words

written by a Lady

250 years ago a lady wrote books, that we still read today

Here are some of the quotes written by a Lady:

" Wisdom is better than wit, and in the long run will certainly have the laugh on her side,"

- Letters

" A person may be proud without being vain.

Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves;

Vanity ,to what we would have others think of us"

-Pride and Prejudice (1813)

" If we not have hearts, we have eyes, and they give us torment enough"

-Northhanger Abbey _1817)

"I'd rather be with a book"

" If the heroine of one novel be not patronized by the

heroine of another,

from whom can she expect protection or regard?

"I think I may boast myself to be,

with all possible vanity,

the most unlearned and uninformed

female who ever dared

to be an

Authoress.

-Letters

"We are sent into this world to be as extensively useful as possible,

and where some degree of strength of mind is given,

it is not a feeble body which will excuse us- or incline us to excuse ourselves.

"an interval of meditation,

serious and grateful,

was the best corrective

of everything dangerous"

very sensible,

but knew not how."
