summer

It was in the shower

that the idea was sealed

Summer of 2013 would be the time to

fulfill it

It was not a bucket list after

reading a book

It was not after following a trend

or after looking at someone's social media post

12 years ago I bought a pair of brown boots

I started walking to prepare

a month long journey alone.

This summer the boots I trusted

the most will come out again

just as it did last summer

On the day my mother would have turned 80

if she only did not pass away in January,

and 2 weeks before my daughter's 10th birthday

I gave the children a pen and a notebook.

They walked in nature, played in tents, went fishing

played games and swing in hammocks

Summer is the time to work on tasks

only children can do.
