replica of Friends apartment at the New York Friends exhibit
I love rooms with stories to tell
When i arrived in the city,
my first apartment was tiny.
It was a studio bedroom in a landmarked building
I painted the living room green,
the kitchen yellow
and bathroom purple.
Across it was a park
named after a founding father,
governor and supreme court judge.
It had a public pool and a playground
with a river next to it.
It was a tiny studio for the wide eyed,
hopeful and young.
I love rooms with stories to tell.
The second one was
In between two Oceans.
The kitchen island was big.
Many dishes and ideas were concocted .
The kitchen wall had rotating art.
There was framed menus from travels,
the first poster of a nearby art, music and dance theatre,
there were art made by contemporary and street artists.
The dining room had a rectangular table
which we later on changed into a round tulip table.
We hosted many teas and dinner there.
The hallway's wall was filled with art.
The bedroom was small and music filled the air.
I love rooms with stories to tell
the 3rd room was on the top floor of a tall building
where I lay on my bed and see the top of trees and sky.
I see sunsets that make the roughest day go away.
At night, I see the moon shine .
Before sunrise, I hear birds chirping
and wheels of trains passing by.
I open the door of the room and take a step
to walk among the roses and cherry trees
to the shelter of animals of land and sea
to the forest and city fields
I love rooms with stories to tell
May the next room in the future
be in harmony with people and nature
May the place I arise to be a room to
play and learn
dream and nurture
