Remember the gifts from our father

It's father's day on Sunday

We think of gifts to make or buy

to honor the men in our lives

We go to stores and look for

useful, meaningful tokens of appreciation

for their love and devotion

to children they care for and nurture

I remember the gifts I received from my father

A tiny book of quotations,

stickers of my favorite cartoons,

old coins and stamps,

books old and new

I received magazines too

like national geographic

architectural digest

and popular science

My father sent me postcards

from art galleries and museums

I remember when I was 11

I made art out of toothpicks in class

I copied from a postcard

It was Picasso's Dove

As a child, I remember the toys

from remote control cars to airplanes

but most of all I remember

the joy whenever I received them

What memorable gifts

did you receive from your father?

Now its our turn to show our appreciation

Here are some ideas of father's day gifts
