Mother Earth is our one and only home
There is nothing like it in the universe
And we all know it
Yet, when our mother calls
We do not hear her plea
We see her tears
Yet, we refuse to see
We know she is very ill
Yet we do not feel the sense of urgency
To take immediate action
To heal and protect her
We are the ones who harmed her
Yet, we pretend that she will live forever
To provide for our every whim
She nourished us
She made us grow
We abused our mother
We took everything from her
Steal her treasures
Ruined her
She could have aged gracefully
But we continue to be blind to see her weep
We are all deaf to hear her call for help
We pretend we are crippled
And chose not to stand up and carry
The burdens our mother carried for us
Our one and only Mother Earth is sick
Our home is in danger
Yet we chose not to defend it
We are given gifts , talents and the will
To make choices
To harm or to heal
To abandon or to defend
To create or to destroy
It is our duty, responsibility and obligation
To care for our one and only home
After all, we only have one Mother
