29 years ago today,
a single woman
known all over the world
as a mother passed away.
Her name was Agnes,
born in Albania on 8-26-1910,
the same year as my grandmother.
She moved to Ireland at 18,
changed her name to Teresa
after St. Therese of Lisieux.
At 29, she moved to Calcutta,
founded the missionary of charity
established on October 7, 1950
Dressed in white and blue fabric,
she walked in charity, humility,
unselfishness and courage.
In 1979, she won a Nobel Peace Peace prize for her service to others.
On September 4, 1916, she was canonized by Pope Francis
She is the patron saint of World Youth Day and
Missionaries of Charity.
She was the real model of love, hope and peace.
