Today is tuesday
the 25th of August,
year 2026.
It is the 110th birthday
of the national parks.
Through the works of the few pioneers who started it,
Through he 42nd congress,
Ulysses signed into law protection
for a national park.
on March 1, 1872
America was gifted it's first national park,
The Yellowstone national park.
Through the Antiquities act,
Theodore established 5 national parks that
expanded public lands.
On 8/25/2026,
Woodrow signed the National park service act.
The parks are not just a beautiful sight to look at.
They are not just a place to go for a cheap vacation.
They nourish all of us and it challenges us.
Around the week of the national parks birthday,
I spent a week of my time at a park.
It was my 3rd national park, I slept in.
The first one was in Assateague, Maryland
Second was in Acadia National Park.
On the week of 17th of August,
we travelled and arrived in Virginia
and camped at the Loft mountain in Shenandoah
We hiked the Blue ridge mountain trails,
rode on horseback , paddled our little
kayak boats on the river,
spent time exploring surrounding areas.
I walked through cave, wade in pools of waterfalls,
We brought a blanket
and had picnic by the lake, laying on the grass
observed dragonflies, butterflies,
and grasshoppers,
We slept in tents and heard real rain forrest sounds,
slept under the stars and through the thunderstorm
I drove up and down the skyline drive
I see thru hikers of the Apalachian trail.
I see women hiking alone in heavy backpacks,
I see parent and child walking along the trail.
I see couples on honeymoon.
I see people camp in groups,
some carried backpacks big and small and
walking sticks.
I saw people on the bicycle riding up the high mountain.
Some were in motorcycles, cars , RVs and airstreams.
Young and old, city folks, country folks, travel near and far
to visit national parks .
There are many more national parks I would like to visit,
in north, south, east, and west
there are many more areas here and around the world,
we like to experience and see protected.
To not only see nature's breathtaking splendor ,
but humbly accepts and respect our climate's unpredictable nature.
Nature is the treasure that keeps on giving.
I see in nature many valuable rare treasures
whether in lands and in water near and far.
I travel the world in wonder
and marvel at how nature provided for people.
"Whether the weather be fine or
whether the weather be not,
whether the weather be cold
whether the weather be hot
whatever the weather"
we travel to national parks
to experience what nature can offer
whether we are alone or
playing together.
