child's gifts

I remember the stuffed toys of our childhood
It decorated the shelves in the bedroom
Some were inside the glass cabinet
some smooth , some rough,
some soft and cuddly
some I like to squeeze and hug.
There were many favorites but
one was the cat stuffed toy that was softest to the touch.
It sat on the shelf for decades
Even as I grew,
the stuffed animal's fur
remained clean and soft.
There were sweet treats too
The colorful translucent animal gummies
bigger than my little fist,
the gummy worms longer than my forearm,
frogs with legs that stretch,
bears , turtle, mouse and fishes
the tails and fins
I played, pulled and stretched
were gifts from my parents.
My grandmother too came knocking at my door
bringing the biggest surprise of them all
A gift I cannot ignore
I received a puppy who played with me
One day my grandfather took me for a walk
and I remember the coconut popsicle ice cream he bought
My godparents gave gifts too
there was a clock radio
that sings rhymes
that's how I learned how to tell time
and 1 ft tall doll with shiny hair and clothes that glitter.
There was the tambourine pair of earings,
and mother of pearl watch from my mother
and books with pictures and rhymes from my father
what childhood gifts do you most remember?
